Aqua Books: Eve Joseph & Patrick Friesen

Come to Aqua Books on
October 7 at 7:00 p. m. and share in the the launch of The Secret Signature of Things by Vancouver poet Eve Joseph and Patrick Friesen.

Much of this book is rooted in an idea of epiphany, of everyday incarnation; not the sudden and profound manifestation of meaning, but the smaller steps taken toward it.
The moments in which, as Joyce writes ...the soul of the commonest object…seems to us radiant.

If epiphanies are for theologians, perhaps the little steps towards them are for poets like Eve Joseph, and for those who attempt to see beyond the names we give things to the names they give themselves.

Eve Joseph's first book of poetry The Startled Heart was nominated for the Dorothy Livesay Award.
Her work has been published in a wide number of journals and anthologies.
Eve was awarded second place in The Antigonish Review's Great Blue Heron Contest in 2007 and 2009.
She was recently awarded the 2010 P.K. Page Founder Award for the best poem of the year in the Malahat Review and was shortlisted for the 2009 CBC Literary Awards in the creative nonfiction category.

Patrick Friesen has published numerous books of poetry and has written several stage and radio plays.  Friesen has also collaborated with choreographers, dancers, musicians and composers.
His book A Broken Bowl was a finalist for the 1997 Governor-General Award.

Have a great day.  How can you miss - you're in Winnipeg!
