The launch of That Other Beauty, with Karen Enns, Méira Cook and Jennifer Still, will take place on Thursday, October 21 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p. m.
That Other Beauty ranges across memories of a farm childhood, and further back, to the Mennonite exodus from Russia. We encounter immigrants, furnace repairmen and grocers, dead cats, a raven lifting into 'the clear, bright density of rain'.
Enns meditates on Bach, on solitude and on exile both accidental and imposed, weaving darkness and light with great fidelity and authority.

Karen Enns is from a Mennonite farm community in southern Ontario. Her poetry has appeared in The Fiddlehead, The Antigonish Review, Grain Magazine, PRISM international and The Malahat Review.
That Other Beauty is her first collection of poetry. She lives in Victoria, B.C.
Poetry, fiction and essay writer Méira Cook was born in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1964. Cook won the CBC Literary Award for poetry in 2007 and was recently awarded third place in Prairie Fire’s Banff Centre Bliss Carman Poetry Contest.
A Walker in the City, her fourth collection of poetry, is forthcoming in Fall 2011.
Jennifer Still’s first book of poetry, Saltations, was nominated for 3 Saskatchewan Book Awards.
NEST, a chapbook published by JackPine Press will also appear in her second collection Girlwood forthcoming in Spring 2011.
An earlier version of Girlwood won the 2008 John V. Hicks Manuscript Award, a Saskatchewan Emerging Artist Award and 2 poem sequences were finalists in the 2008 CBC Literary Awards.
Jennifer now lives in Winnipeg with her husband and 2 children.
