Aqua Books: Quincy Davis with Q-Factor

Come to Aqua Books for an evening of jazz with drummer Quincy Davis with Q-Factor, featuring pianist George Colligan, guitarist Larry Roy and bassist Steve Kirby, on Thursday, November 18 at 8:00 p. m.

Tickets are $10

Quincy Davis is a jazz drummer who has recorded with Tom Harrell, Vincent Gardner, Randy Napoleon, and others. Davis has played throughout the world. He is currently assistant professor at U of M's Jazz Studies program.

George Colligan is a New York-based jazz pianist, organist, drummer, trumpet player, educator, composer and bandleader.  He was on the faculty of the Julliard School for 2 years, and is now Assistant Professor for the U of M's Jazz Studies program.

Larry Roy has established himself on the Canadian jazz scene as an artist, composer, producer and professor teaching jazz at the University of Manitoba.  He also writes film scores and performs all over Europe and North America.  Roy and musical partner Steve Kirby recently released the album Wicked Grin.

Since 2003, Steve Kirby has held the position of Director of Jazz Studies at the University of Manitoba.  Steve also performs lwith the Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra, the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and his own ensemble: The Oceanic Jazz Orchestra.  
Before 2003, Professor Kirby established a career as a double bass player, performing with Elvin Jones, Wynton Marsalis, Cyrus Chestnut, Abbey Lincoln, Steve Turre, James Carter, Stefon Harris, Joe Lovano, Kenny Barron, Kathleen Battle.
