Say No to Dead Pigs As Banks

The Winnipeg Humane Society is asking you to please take a moment to contest the use of baby animals as piggy banks by sending a letter to the editor:
mail@vancouvermagazine.com

Vancouver Magazine is advertising a piggy bank made from actual dead piglets.

Last item on fifth row down.

The taxidermied piglet is being promoted as a gift in the magazine's 2010 holiday gift guide. While animals are routinely killed for their meat and hides, this is a particularly callous and demeaning exploitation of a baby animal's dead body.

Don't miss a special screening of the documentary Pig Business by Tracy Worecester on Thursday, November 18 at 7:00 p.m. in the Fireside Lounge, first floor of University Center at the U of M.

The screening is free but please notify vmcomeau@gmail.com if you'll be attending.

Pig Business is the result of a 4 year investigation into the devastating impacts intensive farming is having on the environment, human health, rural livelihoods and animal welfare, exposing the controversial practices of the biggest multinational corporations in the meat industry.
Pig Business shows that consumers have a choice. They can avoid food produced by a cruel and unsustainable agri-industry by buying better-value, healthier alternatives that don't cost the earth.

Have a great day.  How can you miss - you're in Winnipeg!
