Jaya Beange: Jazz for Japan

On Saturday, March 26 from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm Aqua Books and the Jet Alumni Association of Manitoba/Saskatchewan will be hosting a fundraiser for victims of the recent earthquake in Japan.

Admission is $10
There will be raffle prizes.
Monetary donations will go directly to Iwaki City.
Words of support are welcome (letters will be sent to Iwaki City Hall).

Japan has been devastated by a huge earthquake, subsequent aftershocks and a tsunami, and the threats from nuclear power plants along the coast.

The tsunami has washed many poor fishing villages into the ocean. Thousands are dead, injured and homeless. Many have not yet been reached.
The danger isn't over.  There continue to be aftershocks, warnings of further tsunamis and reactors are still at risk.

Jaya Beange lived and taught for two years in Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture, which is about 50 kilometers from a nuclear facility. Jaya, with other former teachers, has started a relief fund that will go directly to Iwaki.

Please keep the people of Iwaki, Fukushima and Japan in your thoughts and prayers.
If you have already helped, thank you so much.
