Rady JCC’s Tarbut: Festival of Jewish Culture
November 17-25
Showcasing the Best of Jewish Culture

Tarbut is one of the Rady JCC’s preeminent events bringing together several cultural genres and programs into one major arts event.

This year’s line-up includes author David Bezmozgis (award-winning author of The Free World, Natasha and Other Stories), an evening of humour featuring comedian Rachel Feinstein (Last Comic Standing) and outstanding musicians the Hadar Noiberg Middle Eastern Jazz Trio (World, Jazz) and Yemen Blues (Middle Eastern funk/blues).

The festival includes two film screenings:
Hava Nagila (The Movie), and Little Rose (Róeyczka)
Featuring interviews with Harry Belafonte, Connie Francis, Glen Campbell, Leonard Nimoy, Regina Spektor and more, Hava Nagila (The Movie) takes viewers from Ukraine and Israel to the Catskills, Greenwich Village, Hollywood and even Bollywood.

This year Tarbut is excited to add a family component with a Rockin’ Chanukah Concert featuring entertainer Rick Recht.

Tarbut is proud to highlight our local talent including Glenn Buhr’s Broken Songs Band with Before and After Graceland: A Tribute to Paul Simon. Former Winnipegger Sandy Krawchenko Altner presents a lively evening of musical entertainment and nostalgic memories of the early days in Winnipeg’s North End with her program Fiddler in the Golden Land inspired by her best-selling book Ravenscraig.

Tarbut will host an Exhibit of Jewish Artists including works by renowned Winnipeg artists Caroline Dukes, Leonard Marcoe, Shoshana Shalev-Minuk, and Elana El.

The exhibit will culminate with a discussion entitled
Jewish Art or Art made by Jews? by curator and educator Amy Karlinsky
and a silent auction with proceeds to the Rady JCC.

The Rady JCC is Winnipeg’s leading fitness and cultural facility open to all. An extensive array of sports, recreation & fitness programs for children, youth, adults and older adults, coupled with a broad spectrum of cultural, social and educational programs offered in a welcoming atmosphere truly make the Rady JCC everyone’s “home away from home”.
