PechaKucha Night was devised in Tokyo in 2003 as an event for designers to network and show their work. Drawing its name from the Japanese term for the sound of conversation (chit chat), it is a presentation format based on a simple idea: 20 images x 20 seconds – keeping presentations concise and moving at a rapid and entertaining pace.

local DJs from her DJ Academy for Women and Trans Folk.
All funds raised will support the Drop-In Program at WCWRC,
where last year over 20,000 women accessed various programs and services.

Bola Oriyomi, a Nigerian storyteller, united the women in our drop-in in December with stories, drumming, singing, food and dance. Seeing all of the women in our centre come together to laugh and move to a shared rhythm helped promote understanding and inclusion. This event reminded us that in some mysterious, amazing way our stories and lives are all tied together.

Fauves & Northfield EP Release Party

Cover is $7 / a portion of proceeds will go to the West Central Women's Resource Centre.
Since there is no place we love to hang out more than Club 60, that's where the party is.
There will be cheap drinks (as usual), VLTs, pool, and shuffleboard (they're always there),
and you can smoke outside! (It's the law!)
Special guest Jesse Hill (Slow Dancers) will also be playing.
After all the music we will just continue to party. Of course.
Northfield is spoken-word draped over epic post-rock soundscapes, created by Steve Currie, Mark Schram, and Steve Kesselman. They're releasing "Poems for Cigarettes". Check out "Leaving Tonight".
Fauves is the solo project of Haunter's Matt Williams. The debut EP, "West," is a series of acoustic songs. Check out "Sea City".
Jesse Hill is the lead singer and guitarist in Slow Dancers, a creator of spacious, slow-moving, and beautifully poetic songs. He'll be doing a solo acoustic set.

The work in Post-Cinema comes out of academic research and can be seen as an intersection between academic investigation and artistic experimentation. These works were created in an attempt to gain insight into some of the following questions:
What happens when cinema is reduced to a series of stills?
What is cinema without time?
What lies in the boundary between the photographic and the cinematic?
Clint Enns is a video artist and filmmaker whose work primarily deals with moving images created with broken and/or outdated technologies. His work has shown both nationally and internationally at festivals, alternative spaces and microcinemas. His writings and interviews have appeared in Millennium Film Journal, Incite! Journal of Experimental Media and Spectacular Optical.
