International Migratory Bird Day
May 11

Oak Hammock Marsh Interpretive Centre is celebrating with many activities including Sound Mapping, guided birding walks and BirdQuest, where participants will gain tools to help them recognise some of the species.

Mother's Day Luncheon and Wildflower sale 
May 12

Mother's Day Luncheon in our scenic Café overlooking the Marsh from noon to 3:00 p.m.
Explore the Marsh by canoe or on foot,
or by our Horse-Drawn Wagon Rides from 12:30 to 4 p.m.
A fee of $3 for Interpretive Centre members and $5 for non-members for the rides.

Your Mom will love the native grasses and wildflowers on sale!  They are well-adapted to thrive in our climate and will attract butterflies and birds!  All the proceeds from the sale will support education programs at the Centre!

Biodiversity Weekend
May 18 to 20

Wetlands are among the most ecologically diverse ecosystems.  A staggering 300 species of birds have been recorded at the marsh, close to 50% of all the birds found in Canada!

Wetlands are also homes to many species of mammals, fish, reptiles and amphibians.  Learn about the many different species that call Oak Hammock home.  Several presentations will be offered throughout the day as well as some surveys.

Songbird Banding Workshop
May 18: 8 to 10 a.m.

Fine mist nets are set up in the Willow Bluff to catch songbirds. Once caught, the birds are identified, banded, measured, and released.  Learn how to identify birds and bird banding with our Resident Naturalist, Paula Grieef.
Pre-registration required.
Workshop fee is $5 plus admission.

Cache the Marsh 7
May 26, 10:30 a.m.
An introduction to GPS and geocaching.
The Cache the Marsh Challenge will take place from 1 to 4 p.m.
Prizes will be awarded at 5 p.m. during a B.B.Q supper.
Pre-registration is required.
Fee is $5 plus regular admission and includes the use of a GPS unit.

Take advantage of our scenic Café overlooking the marsh for lunch.
Outdoor picnic tables are available.

The Challenge will require some canoeing skills, basic knowledge of birds and other wildlife.  There are several geocaches.  The Marsh offers great wildlife viewing opportunities. Make sure to bring your binoculars!

20th Anniversary Celebration
June 1
The re-opening of the Winnipeg Foundation Boardwalk will take place at 11:30 a.m.,
following a free pancake breakfast in our Café from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.

We have given the Centre a new look with a fresh coat of paint and new flooring and we rebuilt our signature canoe and invertebrate sampling dock.

Join us in celebrating during a fun-filled day of family entertainment.
Meet acclaimed family entertainer, singer/songwriter, Fred Penner in the afternoon.
Enjoy horse-drawn wagon rides, face painting, inflatable play structures, live reptiles, and much more!
