UBUNTU: Finding Our Place in God's Global Story

Join Idelette McVicker exploring the powerful idea of Ubuntu and how understanding that we all belong to each other, informs our view of justice and peace in the world.

Ubuntu is an African concept which means “I am because you are.”  What can a daughter of Apartheid tell us about belonging to each other?  We will explore God’s heart for Peace and Justice together as we look closely at our own story, the biblical narrative and the world.

Idelette is founder and Editor-in-Chief of www.SheLovesmagazine.com. She’s an immigrant, mother of three and a restaurant wife. In 1999 she moved to Canada. She believes Sisterhood is a powerful and strategic response to injustice.

It’s time for change.
Join a compelling line-up of speakers to learn how you can inspire democratic participation in your community:
– Maude Barlow, National Chairperson, Council of Canadians
– Paul Moist, National President, Canadian Union of Public Employees
– Sylvia Boudreau, Winnipeg Indigenous Rock the Vote Co-organizer
– Niigaanwewidam James Sinclair, Associate Professor, University of Manitoba

Celebrate the launch of Carly Dow's debut solo full-length album, Ingrained. The night will open with Roger Roger and a special trio performance by The Crooked Brothers.

With Ingrained, Dow explores the complexities of human-to-human and human-to-nature relationships. From soul-inspired songs to bluesy outlaw tracks full of hips and movement, the album covers a spectrum of pretty grittiness. She will be joined on stage by her band (Ashley Au, Daniel Bertnick and Matt Filopoulos), as well as several other special guests.
