The Winnipeg Folk Festival is thrilled to present Hayden Desser.
On Hey Love, Hayden’s eighth full-length record, the Toronto musician writes the most intimate passage yet in his decades-deep story. The follow-up to 2013’s Us Alone, his warm and emotive debut record, is a heartrending love letter of hope and disarray.

If your band consists of fiddles, mandolins, and something called a bodhran, and your audience looks like it could hold its own at a soccer hooligan convention, you’d bloody well better be able to use those instruments.

Consisting of Raphaelle Standell, Austin Tufts, and Taylor Smith, Braids is a collaborative whole.  Raphaelle has always had a formidable voice but rarely has it sounded as vital, focused, and powerful as it does here.

Orange Shirt Day to Support Residential School Students

Orange Shirt Day is meant to recognize the harm that was done to residential school students and to show a commitment to the principle that every child matters.
Event organizers are asking people across North America to wear an orange shirt on September 30 as a way of supporting Residential School Survivors.

Orange Shirt Day is a legacy of the St. Joseph Mission (SJM) residential school commemoration event held in Williams Lake, BC, Canada, in the spring of 2013.
The date was chosen because it is the time of year in which children were taken from their homes to residential schools, and because it is an opportunity to set the stage for anti-racism and anti-bullying policies for the coming school year.
Orange Shirt Day is also an opportunity for First Nations, local governments, schools and communities to come together in the spirit of reconciliation and hope for generations of children to come.
