Lyric Theatre at Assiniboine Park, Winnipeg, Manitoba

The Winnipeg Humane Society's annual walkathon - The Fairmont Winnipeg Paws in Motion - is Winnipeg's largest pet-friendly celebration of the wonderful bond between animals and the people who love them.

Over 3,000 people and 1,000 animals will gather in the sunshine at Assiniboine Park on Sunday, June 26, 2016, to show off the joys of animal companionship.

This event is a promise that we at The WHS make to the animals of Manitoba. We promise them that we are all working and walking towards a future where no dogs, cats, or critters need to suffer from hunger, homelessness, or neglect. We believe all animals deserve to live a happy life with a loving family.

Join us by registering today and start working towards your fundraising goals.
All money raised helps over 8,500 animals the WHS cares for each year.

12 hours...One guy...A couple of guitars…One goal...$20,000, A Refugee Fundraiser
Many musicians, and hopefully Narwhals will crown the event.

The refugee family expected in September 2016 is now arriving in mid-June. The family of 5 from Afghanistan was sponsored several years ago by the late Jim Wolfe. When Jim died the Anglican Diocese of Rupert's Land became responsible for this family.

I will play 12 hrs of guitar, banjo, dulcimer, mandolin, more guitar(s), whatever, with the sincere hope of inviting excitement, creative and imaginative responses, and enjoy good times with one another, so that we might generate between $20,000 and $25,000.

  1. This sounds like so much fun. I love July, Canada Day, July 4, Bastille Day, then my birthday the day after and then our dog's birthday the next day. It is a month of celebrating. I insist on celebrating all. One year I was at the Consulate's residence in LA to celebrate Canada Day-it was so much fun. We were all sent away with ice wine and maple syrup.
