Main Street Walking Tour
Meet at City Hall Plaza, 510 Main Street

Winnipeg’s Main Street has a long and colourful past. From its origins as a muddy track in the days of the old Red River Settlements, where creaking Red River carts hauled furs and pemmican, through its expansion in the early 20th Century as the home of many of Winnipeg’s earliest hotels, theatres, and banks, to its decline after World War II, Main Street has remained an integral part of the city’s evolving culture and history.

Join us for a FREE walk to learn about the history and architecture of the historic buildings on Main Street between Market Avenue and Higgins. The tour will include a visit to the former Dominion Bank where architect Wins Bridgman will talk about the rehabilitation and expansion of the building into an architect's office.

Here's a list of SOME of the performers who will be participating. More to be added:

- Casimir Gruwel (sax) racked up Juno and Western Canadian Music Award nominations for his work with Winnipeg rock/jazz/funk collective Burnt Project 1.

- Daniel Guezen a/k/a Bartley Knives (guitar) who plays guitar and sings smart songs with a stupid look on his face, and occasionally a floppy hat on his head.

- Kumaran Reddy of Cilly Cyb Fung High/LSD25 Records (bass)

- Kaeleigh and Paul of futurekids (keys/glockenspiel, guitar), deliver upbeat yet melancholy rockers infused with blips of pop culture references.

- Tim Haverluck of The Tims (guitar), a power rocknroll trio with blues and hip hop flavours.

- Peter Vander Hout of Tin Can Bandits (baritone sax) a six-piece pop original pop rock band playing energetic tunes to get your body moving.

- KittyKittie (Pigspit) (vocals) is a one of a kind storyteller and poet.

- J Riley Hill (drums) is a drummer of Mulligrub and recorder of bands.

- Elisha Dacey (vocals) is the lead singer for classic rock cover band Midlife Krysis.
