Shop an even broader range of inspiring and original, handmade goods, while supporting craft artists. Through the WAG’s partnership with Manitoba Craft Council and Nunavut Arts and Crafts Association, CRAFTED 2016 invites you to celebrate the handmade and participate in our philanthropic quilting project. We are once again offering five workshops.

Creating and elevating the handmade is growing in Winnipeg. In partnership with Manitoba Craft Council and Nunavut Arts and Crafts Association, the WAG is embracing this exciting movement with the second-annual CRAFTED, a juried show and sale that features craft at the Gallery; highlights local artists in Manitoba and Nunavut; and incorporates a philanthropic component.

CALL FOR QUILTS & PILLOW CASES
Lend your talents to comfort young patients in our community. Your beautiful quilt or pillow case will be displayed at the WAG, providing a glorious backdrop to CRAFTED. Samhain - New Year’s Open Circle
You and yours are cordially summoned by witches and ancestors to celebrate and clear the way for the new year. Come and help us turn the wheel in the old way; with ritual, song, dance and feasting.
This is an entirely pop up event. Dress warmly and bring anything you need: folding chairs, drums, instruments. We will be providing hot chocolate and cookies. Bakers welcome to contribute. Festival dress and costume encouraged.

This year we combine our celebration with public outreach. We will set out from the park before ritual to sweep the neighbourhood in the four directions. We are preparing a hand out scroll that will be informative. It will be available for you for download and printing if you'd like to use it at your family parties, or at the door for trick and treaters.

There will be a broom making workshop the weekend before. Collect plant materials to use to make brooms. Masks and lanterns may be included in the workshop and volunteers to help with children’s craft making for ritual are encouraged to contact the planning group. Craft supplies (ribbon, twine, flexible cardboard, glue, feathers) are being collected.

Brooms will be used in a dance during circle. Simple steps will be demonstrated. There will be safe space for those who are not dancing. If you aren't able to come make a broom bring one from home. Decorate it if you want, or just bring it as is.

We call on you to remember and honour the ancestors of this land, the Anishinaabe, along with your departed. Blessed be
