Happy Eighth Anniversary to Us!! by Margaret Ullrich

Happy Eighth Birthday to Winnipeg is Better Than Chocolate!!
And thank you for visiting, whether you dropped in on a daily, weekly or occasional basis during the past eight years!

I'm always amazed at learning where you live.
From the beginning, when I started this blog in 2009, Canada was always the number one country for visitors. Well, that changed two years ago.
The United States is still the top visitor, and often there are about 200 visitors from our southern neighbour a day.
Maybe it's due to the change in our dollar's value.

There’s also been a big increase in visitors from Germany and Russia.
Tourists can sure get a great bang for their vacation buck in Canada.
Hope they are coming to Winnipeg and enjoying a lot of great events here.

According to Blogger there have been 368,554 visitors since this blog began!
The top ten countries and their visitors are:
United States……….. 106,576
Canada……………………. 85,177
Germany……..…………. 59,565
Russia…………..………… 34,707
Ukraine.…………..……….12,804
France……………….……. 10,951
United Kingdom….……. 3,889
China………………….…….. 3,180
Japan..………….….….…… 2,568
Slovenia………….….…..… 1,976

During the years there have also been visitors from Moldova, Turkey, Ireland,
Australia, Singapore, Taiwan, Argentina, Denmark, Japan, Sweden, Eritrea, Italy,
Finland, Spain, the Netherlands, Macedonia (FYROM), Mexico, Afghanistan, Thailand,
Slovakia, India, Bangladesh, Israel, Malaysia, Kuwait, Greece, Kenya, Vietnam,
Czech Republic, Portugal, Bulgaria, Romania, United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Armenia
Belarus and Namibia - just to name the top visitors.
I'm so glad you stopped by for a look.
Thank you for taking an interest in events happening here in Winnipeg!

It’s been interesting learning what types of events you’re interested in attending.
I do pay attention to which posts get the most visits.
I’ll be posting more of those, and similar, events.
I'll also be cutting down on the events that you're not interested in seeing.
Who has time to waste, right?

Hope you’re also enjoying hearing the music from our up-and-coming musicians!
Please take a moment and comment when a post interests you.
Local artists do check when they’re in the media and they love the feedback.

Since I don’t post on a daily basis, why not become a subscriber?
It’s easy and free - just click and post your email address.
By joining you won’t miss a post or an event.

As I said when Sophie and I signed off our weekly show...
Have a great weekend. How can you miss - you're in Winnipeg!

Why did you march?
Who did you march with?
What’s one issue you think is really important for women in your country?
Submit your stories/pictures which will be used alongside the many wonderful images generated on the 21st of January 2017 to create a “crowd sourced” film that speaks to the diverse challenges and opportunities for women around the globe.

Amy Goodman - Stories of Democracy, Resistance and Hope
Amy Goodman is an American broadcast journalist, syndicated columnist, investigative reporter and author of six books. Since 1996, She has hosted Democracy Now!: a daily, independent, award-winning news program. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Gandhi Peace Award for “a significant contribution to the promotion of enduring international peace,” the 1998 George Polk Award (with Jeremy Scahill) for investigative reporting on Chevron’s role in Nigeria’s dictatorship, and the 1993 Robert F. Kennedy Prize for International Reporting (with Allan Nairn) for coverage of the East Timor independence movement and Santa Cruz Massacre.
In 2016, Goodman was criminally charged in connection with her coverage of protests of the Dakota Access pipeline at Standing Rock, North Dakota. The charges, which were condemned by the Committee to Protect Journalists, were ultimately dismissed.

The band and their lighting, sound, and visual designers are all Floyd aficionados and are coming together to create for you an incredible night filled with music, lasers, and the glow of a giant Mr Screen. We recreate the band as they existed in the 1970s. Each member of our band portrays one member of the Floyd and does exactly what he would have done.
