Human Rights Through Film: Twice Colonized
Aaju Peter is a a renowned Inuk lawyer, defender of Indigenous rights in the Arctic, and fierce protector of her ancestral lands. After the unexpected death of her youngest son, Peter begins the journey to bring her colonizers in Canada and Denmark to justice.
Twice Colonized follows her through her efforts to establish an Indigenous forum at the European Union, and the deeply personal journey to heal her own wounds.
Director Lin Alluna journeys alongside Peter as she transforms her painful experiences into inspiration for others in the struggle against the poisonous effects of colonization.

Guilt and decolonization: navigating emotions in the pursuit of action
How do you feel after visiting a museum that shares important and sometimes difficult stories? How do you channel those emotions into positive actions? Take part in a workshop and research project on how to navigate these emotional responses.
Sierra McKinney, a Ph.D. student from the University of Montréal in the Department of Anthropology, will be leading the workshop and providing a toolkit.
Each session will highlight stories and artifacts displayed in the Museum and create space for participants to share their experiences, and to complete a questionnaire before and after the 75‐minute workshop. Feedback will help develop resources for museums across Canada creating programming related to reconciliation.

More than 20 organizations are collaborating to celebrate with the theme being “A Dance in Paradise”, to celebrate our diverse cultural experience through cultural activities. The event celebrates both the experiences of refugees and of organizations that play a positive role in refugee experiences. It is organized by settlement service providers and others to shine a light on the rights, needs and dreams of refugees as well as to reflect on our shared global responsibility to respond to the ongoing crisis. Members of the public are welcome to participate.

No boat required! There will be canoes, kayaks, a dragon boat, paddleboards, and safety equipment, all supplied by the Manitoba Paddling Association.
Look for the green CPAWS tent outside the Manitoba Canoe and Kayak Centre at 80 Churchill Drive. Arrive at any point during your two-hour paddling slot. We recommend at least an hour to enjoy the water. We will notify registered participants by e-mail as soon as we are notified of a cancellation due to unsafe water conditions.
All staff members have cleared a criminal record and vulnerable sector background check with the Winnipeg Police Department. CPAWS policy requires that at least one person leading programming that may involve children must be certified in first aid.

We will follow the Red River northward to the historic Captain Kennedy House, St. Andrews on the Red Anglican Church and cemetery, and St. Andrews Rectory. Lunch will be Skinners in Lockport (purchase or brown bag), with a chat about the building of the Locks in Lockport.
Then to the Church of the Immaculate Conception at Cooks Creek for the story of Father Phillip Ruh, and a tour of the grotto and grounds. Our day concludes with a Polish supper at the Cooks Creek Heritage Museum.

We will travel to Neepewa, and Polonia and areas to visit heritage sites. Stop in Portage la Prairie for a coffee break before proceeding to Neepawa to visit Knox Presbyterian Church. Lunch will be at the Brew Brothers Bistro, then a driving tour of the town (passing the Margaret Lawrence house) before heading to Polonia.
In Neepawa, Dr. Rod McGinn, Professor Emeritus in the Geography Department of Brandon University, will join us and be our guide to Polonia where local guides will introduce us to the settlement history of the community. Supper in Portage la Prairie at the Herman Prior Centre.
