The heart is a muscle the size of a fist, keep loving, keep fighting

This project aims to explore our love and respect for women, our recognition of their resilience, strength, struggles and power. It works to combat gendered violence and sexism by celebrating, reinforcing and acknowledging the inherent value, resilience, struggles, and strength of the women we know.

This is a call to respond against sexism, violence, and hate that women experience. While women are often objectified, this project will work to celebrate women as whole, bringing the pieces together.

Our use of the word "women" includes all those who identify as a woman and to acknowledge all the differences within that term.

Seven women decide that making art is more fun than making dinner. They turn their passion and creativity towards painting. Each follows her own inner voice, painting what is important to her. Abstraction reigns, landscapes and figures appear. Oil and cold wax, acrylic, pastel, graphite!!

Originally suggested in 2010 by Deborah Stacey, former member of the Group of 8 Artist Salon, who passed away from cancer in 2011. We dedicate this show to her memory.
