April 30, 9:30am until 4:30 pm
City Hall, 510 Main Street

Plan to be at City Hall as Council votes if they'll allow residents to keep some backyard hens!  Show your councillor you support sustainable urban living.

The bylaw as drafted will make chickens illegal!
Call or email your Councillor now! Here are suggested points to make:

I respectfully request that you support the deletion of section 32(2) of the proposed Responsible Pet Bylaw. It classifies chickens as a commercial animal and specifically states that "No person may keep or raise poultry except in districts zoned “agricultural” under the Winnipeg Zoning By-law."

Chickens are raised safely and humanely in over 100 North American municipalities. Please ensure Winnipeg lives up to its own sustainable living goals by not outlawing hens kept by residents for eggs. I urge you to read the Winnipeg Urban Chicken Association's research paper which dispels the fearmongering and myths that have obscured this debate. Thank you.

Especially important to contact Councillors Fielding and Steen!

Can you imagine...

Having multiple sclerosis means that one morning you may not be able to walk when you wake up. Or that you may suddenly have impaired vision. Or that your memory will fail you for no apparent reason. The symptoms of MS are many and vary for everyone. It's estimated that approximately 55,000-75,000 men and women in Canada have the disease, and every day about three more people are diagnosed.

...a future without MS

I've registered for the MS Walk because I want to do something for everyone who lives with multiple sclerosis. With your help, together we can make a difference.

Winnipeg Art Gallery: 100 Masters: Only in Canada
May 11 - August 11

Billboards and bus signs have been sprouting up around town that consist of just a wooden crate and an artist’s signature.
What’s it all about?
They are announcing 100 Masters: Only in Canada, an exhibition that will feature some of the biggest names in visual art - Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Matisse, Warhol, Picasso, and Monet, to name just a few.

The works have come from the collections of 28 galleries - treasures of Canadian, European, and American art that span five centuries.

Each week a video will focus on one of these works, giving visitors an insider’s view on what they will be seeing.

On WAG Executive Director Stephen Borys’s Travel-blog, he will be talking about his travels, talking to other gallery directors, exploring their collections, and choosing the perfect works for 100 Masters: Only in Canada.

Moms Demand Action’s middle-ground solutions to the escalating problem of gun violence in the United States are straightforward:

    1) Ban assault weapons and ammunition magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.
    2) Require background checks for all gun and ammunition purchases.
    3) Report the sale of large quantities of ammunition to the ATF, and ban online sales of ammunition.
    4) Make gun trafficking a federal crime with serious criminal penalties.
    5) Counter gun industry lobbyists’ efforts to weaken gun laws at the state level.

May 11
Doors 7:15 pm | Show 8:00 pm
Tickets: $25 advance | $30 door

Skydiggers celebrate their 25th year as a band with four releases and a Canadian tour!
Chemistry, passion, energy and evolution are a few words that come to mind when Andy Maize and Josh Finlayson talk about twenty-five years together in Skydiggers. When the band released their eighth studio album, Northern Shore last year, it stood out as the band’s most adventurous and varied collection of songs yet.
A series of four separate releases will be delivered each season in 2013. It kicks off with All of our Dreaming: Skydiggers Live, 1988, 2000 & 2012 which consists of three separate discs of the band captured live, twelve years apart, beginning with 1988’s Spadina Hotel, followed by 2000’s There & Back and rounded out with a DVD of 2012’s stunning performance,  Skydiggers Live at The Glenn Gould Theatre.

“You can spend your life searching for chemistry” Andy muses. “For any relationship to remain vital and continue to grow you need chemistry. We were lucky to have found that early on with each other.  Skydiggers are continuing to map new musical territory.

White Rabbit Productions is proud to present a new Canadian musical!
Bloodless: The Trial of Burke and Hare
Written and composed by Joseph Aragon | Directed by Sharon Bajer

Robbing graves for medical science is back breaking work.
Why dig up corpses when you can create your own?

A musically morbid tale of money lust and murder in 19th century Scotland.
It follows the tale of Irish innkeepers William Burke and William Hare, whose business takes a turn for the murderous when word gets out that fresh corpses fetch a pretty penny at the medical academy.

This deliciously dark and scandalously true story returns to Winnipeg, where it got its award-wining start at the 2009 Fringe Festival, after a professional world premiere at the Panasonic Theatre in Toronto last year.

Buy your tickets at White Rabbit or by calling (204) 414-7078 or email
