West Central Women's Resource Centre
640 Ellice Ave, Winnipeg, MB R3G 0A7

It’s devastating to see the toll this year has had on women in our community:
Women have been laid off from their service-industry jobs and have nowhere to go.
Women in our city are walking around without shoes.
Women don’t have supplies to keep themselves clean and safe.
Women are struggling to access food for themselves and their children.
The need is overwhelming.

We staff the WCWRC Street Outreach Van – the only 7-day-a-week outreach services focused on women in Winnipeg. Every day we meet homeless women who are looking for safety and support, and just a little bit of connection and normalcy. By seeing many of the same women everyday, we can also check in on their wellbeing and connect them with additional services, such as housing supports and counselling.
Will you please help keep the van on the road?

Please donate today https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/14637

With your gift, you will ensure women have the support and dignity they deserve. Thank you!

The Assiniboine Valley Railway, Inc., 3001 Roblin Blvd.

The 1/8th scale railway just west of Assiniboine Park, is sad to report that the family of the AVR founder, the late Bill Taylor, has given notice that the AVR has 6 months to vacate the property.

We will likely have to put everything into storage temporarily. We will need a new home, or else will have to dissolve the AVR and sell off our assets.
All public access to the property must cease, so there will be no AVR Season this year.
If we are to continue, we will need at least several acres to rebuild on, with hydro & water, close enough to the city that we & the public have easy access. We cannot see rebuilding without public monetary support.

All of us at the AVR miss Bill since his passing in 2013, and have been honored to continue his dream hobby that has given pleasure to so many people. We want to thank the thousands of people - individuals, families and organizations, and the media - who have supported us and enjoyed riding on our Open House trains in the summer, on our Halloween & Christmas Weekend trains and sharing meals on the Dinner Train Weekends.

For more info about what the AVR has been (and, hopefully, could be again), check out our website: assiniboinevalleyrailway.org

Ełexiìtǫ ; Ehtsʼǫǫ̀ / Connected ; Apart From Each Other
By Casey Koyczan

April 30 - May 29 (by appointment, contact info@urbanshaman.org)

"Ełexiìtǫ ; Ehts'ǫǫ̀" is an interactive installation that communicates the journey of learning more about one's culture through distance education and research; utilizing and adapting to work with technology and communication tools as viable resources for learning language, tradition, stories, and spiritual beliefs.
Within my art I use every part of the materials harvested. During my early adulthood I've tried to follow the teachings of "Dene Laws”. I try to always return to these teachings as they have helped me to represent myself in a way that is common to Dene people.

The Grey Nuns’ convent, Winnipeg’s oldest building, houses Le Musée de Saint-Boniface Museum, home to the world’s largest collection of Louis Riel artifacts. Built for the Grey Nuns who arrived in the Red River Colony in 1844, the structure is an outstanding example of Red River frame construction. The Museum presents an impressive collection of artifacts that reveal the lives and culture of the Francophone and Métis communities, including a special exhibit about Louis Riel, the “father” of Manitoba.

Park Theatre Sing-A-Long Screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Dress up and Props are encouraged and oft rewarded

While driving home during a rain-filled night, straight-laced lovebirds Brad Majors and Janet Weiss end up by chance at the castle of one Dr. Frank-N-Furter and find that he's having a party. This is the unveiling of the doctor's latest creation: Rocky Horror, a man-made Adonis that will give absolute pleasure. Frank seduces both Brad and Janet, Janet and Rocky become biblically involved, and Dr. Everett Von Scott arrives looking for his son Eddie (whom Frank killed earlier in this film).

Projected along with a musical soundtrack to give audience participation a new meaning in dimension, time and space, this shall be a night that both Brad and Janet will remember for a very long time in the sexually kinky, rock 'n roll, rock-opera world of a gender-bending scientist - and his time warped plans. BUT THIS TIME AS A SING-A-Long event.
Every song has karaoke lyrics at the bottom of the screen.

The motorcoaches we use from Beaver Bus Lines provide many features for your added confidence. Beyond new seat spacing measures (27 person capacity vs 54 people previously), the installation of UV-C lamps, use of a disinfectant deodorant fogger, and enhanced cleaning and sanitization procedures, motorcoaches have enhanced airflow and filtration systems that can reduce the risk of transmission.
We are looking forward to getting back on the road again and discovering the world with you - even if it is just in Manitoba for now.

Paws for a Cause Cancer Walk is open to everyone, even if you don’t have a canine companion. They say nearly 1 in 2 Canadians will develop cancer in their lifetime.
There are many Manitobans who will need the support of Never Alone Cancer Foundation.

We walk to support those fighting cancer and honour those we have lost.
This year the walk is a self-walk (September 14 – 20), due to Covid-19.
Go with a family member or friends, but keep in mind Covid-19 Guidelines.

Sponsors and top fundraiser will be asked to meet at Kildonan Park on September 20 to participate in a celebration, limited to September’s Provincial Covid-19 guidelines.

We will send you an email once you register letting you know how you can share the experience on social media, win prizes and get a coveted Wag Bag.
