CKUW: Mama Cutsworth's 10th!!

Tune in for memories, REALLY bad bloopers from the past decade, the first ever song played on Stylus Radio, and much more.

Thursday, May 12
2:00 pm on CKUW 95.9 fm

In May 2001, a little radio show hit the Winnipeg airwaves for the first time.
Sarah Michaelson, along with her then co-hosts Tom Wilson and Matt Hannam, produced a radio music show that aired every Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 pm, focusing on concert reviews and music interviews.

Over the years, the trio interviewed:
Fred Wesley
Sharon Jones
Bobbito
DaDaDaDa... Lazers
Skratch Bastid
The Peanuts & Corn crew
... and many more artists that you've never heard of.

Eventually, Tom and Matt moved on to bigger and better things, but Sarah never did.
Now as Mama Cutsworth, she's still making Stylus Radio a weekly priority and May 12 is the 10th anniversary of the first-ever airing of the program!

Ismaila Alfa

On March 5 at 9:00 pm you are invited to the Lo Pub where Mama Cutsworth will start the night off right, spinning some of her magical rumpshaking tunes.

Ismaila Alfa and the band will hit the stage at 11:00 pm sharp.

Between working as the traffic guy on CBC radio, recording and touring as the front man for Magnum K.I., Ismaila Alfa has been going back to drawing on the afrobeat, reggae and soul that he heard and mimicked as a kid.

Together with Curtis Nowosad, Julian Bradford, Will Bonness (Curtis Nowosad Trio) and Mark Penner (Moses Mayes) Ismaila has been writing and rehearsing new solo songs.

Expect the night to be capped off with special guests and improv performances!

Shoulder pads and perms are strongly recommended.

Spanning 7 years, the show took us through the lives of 4 incredible women in Miami: Dorothy Zbornak, Rose Nylund, Blanche Devereaux and Sophia Petrillo.

They had crushes.
They had sex.
They tap danced.

Women over 50 have never been so celebrated in television, or with such hilarious one-liners.

So let's honour these girls with a party!
