Main Street Walking Tour
Meet at City Hall Plaza, 510 Main Street

Winnipeg’s Main Street has a long and colourful past. From its origins as a muddy track in the days of the old Red River Settlements, where creaking Red River carts hauled furs and pemmican, through its expansion in the early 20th Century as the home of many of Winnipeg’s earliest hotels, theatres, and banks, to its decline after World War II, Main Street has remained an integral part of the city’s evolving culture and history.

Join us for a FREE walk to learn about the history and architecture of the historic buildings on Main Street between Market Avenue and Higgins. The tour will include a visit to the former Dominion Bank where architect Wins Bridgman will talk about the rehabilitation and expansion of the building into an architect's office.

Javelin’s ten songs, among the most confidently and imaginatively arranged Jordan Klassen has ever recorded, engage the past, reassess recollections and impressions, turn failures not into successes but lessons for the future. UBUNTU: Finding Our Place in God's Global Story

Join Idelette McVicker exploring the powerful idea of Ubuntu and how understanding that we all belong to each other, informs our view of justice and peace in the world.

Ubuntu is an African concept which means “I am because you are.”  What can a daughter of Apartheid tell us about belonging to each other?  We will explore God’s heart for Peace and Justice together as we look closely at our own story, the biblical narrative and the world.

Idelette is founder and Editor-in-Chief of www.SheLovesmagazine.com. She’s an immigrant, mother of three and a restaurant wife. In 1999 she moved to Canada. She believes Sisterhood is a powerful and strategic response to injustice.
