Marilou McPhedran and the Global College Student Advisory Council will be hosting
the first film screening of This Changes Everything.

Filmed over 211 shoot days in nine countries and five continents over four years, This Changes Everything attempts to re-imagine the vast challenge of climate change.
Directed by Avi Lewis, and inspired by Naomi Klein’s international bestseller the film presents seven powerful portraits of communities on the front lines, from Montana’s Powder River Basin to Beijing and beyond.
Interwoven with these stories of struggle is Klein’s narration, connecting the carbon in the air with the economic system that put it there. Klein builds to her most controversial and exciting idea: that we can seize the crisis of climate change to transform our failed economic system.
Will this film change everything?
Absolutely not. But you could, by answering its call to action.

Toonies For Tummies l Art City Fundraiser l Valentine Day Events for Dogs l Rich Homie Quan l Art City Request for Proposals l Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper

Toonies For Tummies

During February you can donate $2 in store at several supermarkets across Ontario and the Atlantic provinces. 100% of the funds collected will be donated to breakfast programs, which provide nutritious meals to children in schools.

The numbers are staggering.
One out of every six Canadian children goes to school hungry. Toonies For Tummies helps children who don’t have the “luxury” to start their day with breakfast by raising funds for Breakfast for Learning and the Breakfast Club of Canada.

And all it takes is $2 to make a difference.

  • Watch the Little Change, Big Change video here and donate online.
  • Donate $2 in-store during the campaign period.
  • Start and keep the conversation going on Facebook and #Toonies4Tummies
  • Share the campaign badge on Facebook and encourage others to donate.
The Grocery Foundation is an Ontario-based not-for-profit, established in 1979 to enrich the lives and well-being of children. 2014 marked their 35th Anniversary.

The Complete Book of North American Owls
featuring a special appearance from Nemo, a live owl

From the silent, lethal swoop of a great horned owl as it swerves between northern pines to make a kill, to the pert bobbing of a pygmy owl as it focuses on an intruder, the habits of each species are vividly described. Owls celebrates these dramatic and stealthy nocturnal hunters and showcases twenty owl species in extensive detail, with six pages of stunning full-color images.

Dr. James Duncan is the Director of the Wildlife Branch of Manitoba Conservation and has researched owl for over 26 years. James with his wife and fellow zoologist, Patsy, have banded over 2,000 owls in Manitoba.

River of Stars

From the bestselling author of Under Heaven comes an epic of prideful emperors, battling courtiers, nomadic invasions, and of a woman fighting to find her place in the world. In an empire divided by bitter factions circling an exquisitely cultured emperor who loves his gardens and his art far more than the burdens of governing, dramatic events on the northern steppe alter the balance of power.

Guy Gavriel Kay has been awarded the International Goliardos Prize for his work in the literature of the fantastic, is a two-time winner of the Aurora Award, and won the 2008 World Fantasy Award for Ysabel. Under Heaven was the recipient of the 2011 Sunburst Award for Excellence in Canadian Literature of the Fantastic.
