Knit for Australia's Koalas

Knitters of the World - Australia needs your help.
Over 1 million hectares of land have been burning in 300 fires across NSW and Queensland. Much of this is critical Koala Habitat - a species that is now considered “functionally extinct”. Populations have been decimated and those who have survived are badly injured.
There has also been a call out for knitted, crocheted or sewn Koala mittens and Joey pouches for our beloved kangaroos, possums and wombats, to help in the treatment of burns.
Please email for the patterns at hello@littledandelion.com to receive a PDF for patterns. I am happy to be the point of collection.
Please show our global leaders what can be achieved when we act as a collective consciousness and show compassion and love for those in need. Many thanks and much love ~ Jac

How The Winnipeg Humane Society changes the lives of animals and people.

Winnipeg Humane Society, 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Pardner will be available at the WHS

Pardner is a German Shepherd mix that arrived at the Winnipeg Humane Society (WHS) with a bullet in his head. The shot did not kill him, however has forced him to undergo three surgeries. Pardner is one of nearly 8500 animals who arrive at the WHS each year.

Donations are what allow us to help animals like Pardner.  If we do not raise money, we do not help animals - it’s that simple, and that necessary, Bill McDonald, WHS CEO.

A group of Red River College’s CreComm students are taking on the roles of executive producer, camera operators, hosts, and more.

Boundaries of Being · By Erin Brown
to February 13

In 'Boundaries of Being' I use figurative sculpture, painting, and drawing to engage narratives of acute introspection. Intense self-scrutiny has a polarizing effect on how I view myself; I’m able to observe my physical and emotional flaws with greater objectivity while experiencing them more intensely.

Because my work is highly personal, the nude figure seems to most clearly and potently convey a sense of vulnerability.

Polytechnique Film Screening and Discussion - FREE (The Montréal Massacre)

The Edge Gallery and Urban Art Centre, 611 Main Street
December 10, 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm

FREE

Please join us for a screening of the English version of the film
Polytechnique, a film commemorating the 1989 Montréal Massacre.
It will be followed by a discussion with feminists remembering past December 6th actions and memorials.

Please email us with accessibility questions or more info

December 6th is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
This is a day that marks the anniversary of the Montréal Massacre, in 1989,
when 14 women were murdered at l’École Polytechnique de Montréal.

They were murdered because they were women.

The film documents that day through the eyes of two students, Valérie and Jean-François, whose lives were forever changed when a young man entered the school with one idea in mind:
kill himself and take with him as many women as possible.
This film is an intense, fictional rendition of the actual event.
Its release sparked controversy in several communities.

This event is organized on December 10 in recognition of
the World March of Women’s 24 Hours of International Feminist Action.

More than 20 years have passed, yet violence against women continues to be a serious issue, and we continue to fight.  This evening we will archive past actions and memorials around December 6th, and local actions to end violence against women.
This year we want to commemorate the Montréal Massacre, and also Winnipeg’s response.
