This February the Winnipeg Humane Society and our Animal Welfare team are bringing awareness to welfare concerns commonly associated with dairy production, and encouraging our community to learn more about the complex and sentient lives of dairy cows. One of the easiest ways you can make a difference is by reducing your dairy consumption.

We know that it is not easy to completely cut dairy from your diet. Our challenge for you this month is to try some of the dairy-free alternatives now readily available.
Try almond or oat milk in your morning coffee or cereal
Swap plant-based cheese on your pizza at restaurants
Look for plant-based yogurts, ice creams, and desserts at your local grocer

We’re asking you to ‘Try Dairy Free for Me’. You might think that your efforts will not make a difference, but small swaps and substitutes can lead to big changes.   https://winnipeghumanesociety.ca/animal-issues/farm-animal-welfare/canadas-dairy-industry/

Winnipeg Zombies are rising up to march on banks that are financing fossil fuels and funding climate chaos. Dress up as a zombie or your favourite Halloween character.
Bring a “tombstone” that declares how what you love is being threatened.
We’ll march and chant. We’ll eat candy and meet new friends.
And we'll call on those big fossil banks to change their death-dealing ways.
