Gift Ideas

There's a good chance you'll be buying gifts for people between now and the end of the year right? Instead of the usual mall and big box store shopping, why not consider something local and good for you and others?

Consider ordering local, healthy, and hand crafted items from Mary Jane's Cooking School.
We've got handmade soaps and candles, hemp and flax seed, sea salt, coconut oil and lots more fun feel good stuff. And everything you buy from us supports the community and the amazing people working hard in that community.
We can even put together a lovely basket for you.
A gift you can feel good about!

Actor John D. Huston will perform his one man show Screwtape
The great script draws heavily from C.S. Lewis’ book ‘The Screwtape Letters’ and from his ‘Screwtape Proposes a Toast’. In this depiction of Hell, demons feast on sinful human “vermin” and strategize how to gradually draw their targets away from “The Enemy.”

Lewis’s story is modernized slightly here with the use of Google Glass and a bit of added culturally relevant dialogue, but it never loses the original feel of the story. John D. Huston as the senior demon in the well-tailored black suit is exceptional, and I almost couldn’t take my eyes off him for the whole 70 minutes. Readers of C.S. Lewis’s work will be very satisfied with this adaptation, and from what I overheard another audience member saying, the non-religious will like it too. Carmelle Pretzlaw

You Will Run. You Will Scream.

Spirit Day!! Wear Purple & Write!!

Last year Canadian student Brittany McMillan created Spirit Day.  She asked that people wear purple in remembrance of the youth who have died by suicide due to homophobic bullying.

We held a very successful rally at the legislative building to raise awareness. Our effort was to come together as a community, to say that this is not acceptable and to send a message of hope to queer youth.

Since last year more youth have passed away because of bullying and discrimination.

I know that you cannot live on hope alone, but without it, life is not worth living. And you… and you… and you… gotta give em hope! ~ Harvey Milk
