My name is Skylar Ferguson and I’m in grade 11 at Oak Park High School. In May 2017 Churchill, Manitoba experienced a catastrophic flood that wiped out its rail line in 19 places. The lack of rail line left the Churchill residents without ground transportation in and out of their remote northern community.

I want the children of Churchill, Manitoba to have a special Christmas and to know that Manitobans care about their situation.   Christmas for Churchill is a toy, food and monetary drive. We need to fill Santa’s sleigh that is headed to Churchill. Let’s show how much Manitobans care!!

Please click on this link to donate, and to see Toy/Food drop-off locations and dates:

Your support of this drive will be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Events in Winnipeg:

March 8, 1:00 pm
Portage Place

Self-identified women, girls and theirs allies in Winnipeg will be marching in celebration of the 104th International Women’s Day (IWD).
All genders and ages welcomed, families encouraged!

We will be marching in solidarity with the struggles of all women in Canada, and all over the world. Participants are invited to celebrate the successes, accomplishments, resilience and strength of women in their lives. On IWD, we pay heed to the historical and current consciousness-raising, community-building, and organizing work carried out by caregivers, suffragettes, politicians, reproductive choice advocates, environmentalists, Indigenous rights activists, and labour activists, alike.

We will march in solidarity with the self-identified women and girls whose lives are undervalued, who face political, economic, emotional, psychological, verbal, sexual, or physical violence, who cannot get decent work, who live and work in conditions that endanger their lives.

The CP Holiday Train is North America's longest rolling food bank fundraiser.  Since 1999 the program has raised close to $9.5 million and 3.3 million pounds of food.
Musicians will play over 150 concerts from a boxcar we've turned into a travelling stage.
Entertainment: Odds and Roxanne Potvin
Concerts are free Please bring a donation for your local food bank, either a non-perishable food or a cash donation. All contributions will stay in your community.

Sorry! Rides are not open to the public.
The train arrives and pulls to a safe stop in front of the crowd. The stage door lowers and the band opens with its first song. Then a brief ceremony takes place which involves local food bank officials and other dignitaries. Then the band resumes its show.
After about a half hour show (a mix of traditional and modern holiday-themed songs) the band plays its farewell, the boxcar door closes, and the train slips off into the night.
