Lanterns for Peace 2017
Hosted by Peace Alliance Winnipeg
Peace Alliance Winnipeg, the Japanese Cultural Association of Manitoba, and Council of Canadians-Winnipeg Chapter commemorate the 1945 atomic bombings of Hiroshima (Aug. 6) and Nagasaki (Aug. 9) with a Lantern Ceremony.
We believe it is important to keep the memory of those horrible events alive so that current generations understand we must never allow nuclear weapons to be used again.
The ceremony is something the whole family can enjoy. Using art supplies provided by the organizers, you make lanterns and float them in the fountain. These videos will give you a good idea of what to expect:
We hope you can join us this year.
