For nearly two decades, Willie Watson has made modern folk music rooted in older traditions. He’s a folksinger in the classic sense: a singer, storyteller, and traveller, with a catalog of songs that bridge the gap between the past and present. On Folksinger Vol. 2, he's a modern interpreter of older songs, passing along his own version of the music that came long before him.
With a quick vibrato and rich range, he breathes new life into classics like “Samson and Delilah,” one of several songs featuring harmonies from gospel quartet, the Fairfield Four.

Gallery hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 12-5pm

A solo exhibition of work by Callie Lugosi
Opening reception of Majesties on Friday, July 12 from 7-10pm

In the manner of a Renaissance court painter, Lugosi’s lens enshrines each noble as they themselves would wish to be immortalized. This gaudy catalogue in gilded frames captures the imperturbable inner radiance of the local community’s intersectionally outspoken, iconizing those who swerve away from puritanical binary definition and lead the reformation of gender’s presentational architecture. ~  Sarah Jo Kirsch

Callie Lugosi is a lens-based artist and journalist from Winnipeg who makes use of analog and oft-times antiquated technology to create photographs.

The gallery is not located in a fully accessible building. For details visit: https://www.aceart.org/contact-access#accessibility or call (204) 944-9763.
Staff are very happy to assist.

Yamantaka // Sonic Titan, a Noh-Wave prog collective, a black-and-white (and sometimes red) theatre company, an operatic psych cult, and the speculative prophets of humanity’s impending doom. Above it all, though, they’re a thunderous rock band, and on their third album, DIRT, they’re the heaviest they’ve ever been.

They’ve added singer Joanna Delos Reyes, guitarist Hiroki Tanaka and bassist Brandon Lim, who, along with the towering drums of leader/artist Alaska B, singer/theatre artist Ange Loft and keyboardist Brendan Swanson, turn the group into an engine of sound.

DIRT is the band’s first album since 2013’s UZU, their second to be shortlisted for the Polaris Prize as one of the best Canadian albums of the year. The album was conceived as the soundtrack for an unreleased Haudenosaunee and Buddhist themed Anime produced in 1987. http://www.brooklynvegan.com/stream-yamantaka-sonic-titans-new-album-dirt/
