Park Theatre Sing-A-Long Screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Dress up and Props are encouraged and oft rewarded

While driving home during a rain-filled night, straight-laced lovebirds Brad Majors and Janet Weiss end up by chance at the castle of one Dr. Frank-N-Furter and find that he's having a party. This is the unveiling of the doctor's latest creation: Rocky Horror, a man-made Adonis that will give absolute pleasure. Frank seduces both Brad and Janet, Janet and Rocky become biblically involved, and Dr. Everett Von Scott arrives looking for his son Eddie (whom Frank killed earlier in this film).

Projected along with a musical soundtrack to give audience participation a new meaning in dimension, time and space, this shall be a night that both Brad and Janet will remember for a very long time in the sexually kinky, rock 'n roll, rock-opera world of a gender-bending scientist - and his time warped plans. BUT THIS TIME AS A SING-A-Long event.
Every song has karaoke lyrics at the bottom of the screen.

Kris Ulrich’s reflective, poignant lyrics and emotive guitar playing leave you with a sound that is truly its own.
The influences of Jackson Browne and Blake Mills can be heard in his music which covers a wide range of moods from energetic roots rock to contemplative ballads. Not a stranger to the stage, Ulrich has spent years as a guitarist for hire for some of the nation’s finest and it shows in his relaxed and playful nature on stage.

No Work or School on Saturdays, so come out for a Great Night of Partying! Socially Distanced!
The Perpetrators’ albums have garnered WCMA awards and Juno nominations. A European Tour capped off a Juno Nomination and a win at the Western Canadian Music Awards. The Perps released two more albums, garnering various award nominations.
In late 2009, Jay Nowicki teamed up with Romi Mayes for extensive touring across the US, Canada, and Europe, and recording the critically acclaimed live album “Lucky Tonight” in 2011.
2013 had Jay and The Perpetrators record their latest release, “Stick ‘Em Up”, which Dr. Boogie (Classic 21 – Belgium) described as: “The dirtiest stuff you made [sic] so far, and the more accessible for my greasy ears…”

Happy Eleventh Anniversary to us!! - Margaret Ullrich

Happy Anniversary to Winnipeg is Better Than Chocolate and its readers!
I want to thank you for visiting, whether it's been on a weekly or occasional basis!
Also, a huge 'thank you' to those who've asked their friends to visit!

This has been a strange year.
Due to Covid-19 many of the events have been cancelled or postponed.
But slowly we’ve been getting back to normal.
Stay safe and well!

Over the years there have been over 475,000 visitors!
When I started this blog in 2009 and for a few years, Canada was always the number one country for visitors.
Well, a few years ago people from the United States became the top visitors.
During the past year over 18,000 Americans visited this blog.
I hope it’s meant that folks in the States are curious about what we have in Winnipeg.
Maybe when the border gates are re-opened they will come for a vacation, or at least come up to see a show or to take part in an event.
Folks in the states know that they can get a great bang for their vacation buck here.

Germany, Russia and the Ukraine are also among the top five countries.
Hope you'll soon be coming to Winnipeg to enjoy great events here, too.
The Philippines is still one of the top ten visiting countries.
I’m not surprised - Winnipeg has a large, vibrant Philippine community.
Maybe people have decided to see a few shows while visiting family and friends.

The top ten countries and their visitors are:
United States……….. 140,853
Canada……………………. 94,226
Germany……..…………. 62,670
Russia…………..………… 43,108
Ukraine.…………..…….. 19,868
France……………….……. 15,354
Unknown Region..….… 7,711
Philippines…………….….  5,688
United Kingdom….……. 5,242
China………………….…….. 3,266

Visitors from ‘Unknown Region’ - which bumped Japan from the top ten list last year - are still dropping in to see what’s happening.
I don't know where these unknown visitors live.
Oh, well, I wish a hello to you, wherever you call home.

During the years there have also been visitors from Moldova, Turkey, Ireland, Australia,
Singapore, Taiwan, Argentina, Denmark, Eritrea, Italy, Finland, the Netherlands, Spain,
Macedonia (FYROM), Mexico, Afghanistan, Thailand, Slovakia, India, Bangladesh, Israel,
Malaysia, Kuwait, Greece, Kenya, Vietnam, Czech Republic, Portugal, Bulgaria, Romania,
United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Armenia, Belarus, Namibia, Honduras, Slovenia,
Lithuania, Indonesia, Turkmenistan, Cambodia, Switzerland, Czechia, Bermuda, Portugal,
Qatar, Brazil, Egypt, Chile and Poland.

Since last September 17 there have also been visitors from Libya, Dominican Republic,
Togo, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Albania, Hong Kong, Malta, Iraq, Seychelles,
Morocco and Peru.

Sometimes there has been a surge of visits from a country.
I have no idea why such surges in visits happen.
Whatever the reason, I'm so glad each of you stopped by for a look.
Thank you for taking an interest in events happening here in Winnipeg!

Usually I only post once or twice a month, especially since Covid-19 hit in March.
I don’t post on Facebook.
Please become a subscriber to the blog Winnipeg is Better Than Chocolate.
It’s easy and FREE - just click on the ‘FOLLOW’ link under the pictures of followers and post your email address.
You can also follow Winnipeg is Better Than Chocolate by email.
Free, easy, and, I promise, your address will never be shared with anyone.
You’ll get an email when there is a new post, so you'll never miss news about an event.

I do post a link on Twitter whenever there is a new post.
If you feel more comfortable using Twitter, just click on the Twitter link '@ImTurning60' on the side bar above the archive and we’ll be able to keep in touch that way.

I do notice which posts get the most visits.
Music posts - especially those with links to websites - interest most people.
I hope you’re enjoying hearing the music from our up-and-coming musicians!
I’ll continue posting more of those, and similar, events.

Please take a moment and comment when an event or personality interests you.
Local artists do check when they’re in the media and they love the feedback.

Once again, thank you so much for visiting!
As I said when Sophie and I signed off our weekly show...
Have a great weekend. How can you miss - you're in Winnipeg!

The Pride & Prejudice Ball ~ Winnipeg (2020) · Hosted by Lady Jane Productions

Live in History, and imagine yourself transported to Regency England, circa 1815.  It's the world of Jane Austen, where Mr. Darcy and Miss Elizabeth Bennett are dancing by candlelight at the Netherfield Ball, where military heroes such as the Duke of Wellington have returned triumphant from the Napoleonic War, where there is dancing to live music, and where a frothy cup of syllabub is yours to sip, surrounded by the sight of elegant, bejewelled ladies and dashing gentlemen ... all without the use of a time machine.

New for 2020:  a light, pre-Ball Dinner  (5:00-6:15 pm)
Enjoy a Regency era-inspired, light dinner of Regency White Soup, the Fort Garry's famous bread, Regency Greens (salad), and beautiful Beef Stew.
A Vegetarian meal of Mulligatawny Soup with a Vegetable tart is an option.

No partner is necessary and no dance experience required. A dance partner is easily acquired, as it was commonplace in this period for people to dance with different partners.
