Elliott BROOD (Mark Sasso, Casey Laforet and Stephen Pitkin) is a three-piece Folk Rock Alt Country band based in Hamilton. Their brand of fuzzed-up roots music has always made for a captivating, and frenetic live performance. That energy has always translated onto the band’s five previous critically acclaimed records.

In 2013 the band won a Juno Award for their World War One inspired album “Days Into Years”. They've been nominated for five Juno awards. In 2012 the band was nominated for a Genie Award for their song “West End Sky” featured in the film Grown Up Movie Star. Fall 2017 will see the band release their sixth full-length studio album “Ghost Gardens”.

“Ghost Gardens” alludes to a phenomenon where abandoned perennial gardens continue to reappear year after year, despite their original caretakers' absence. The album began with the rediscovery of lost demo songs from a decade and a half earlier, the beginning of the bands career to be exact. Not often in life does a band get to step back in time to rediscover their lost younger selves and get to amend or alter that existence.

The Cave Singers released two albums on both Matador and Jagjaguwar Records and began work on their fifth album, opting to coordinate the project themselves and financed the recording through a crowdfunding campaign which raised 116 percent of their goal, and the album, Banshee, was released in February 2016.

Forming a twangy, rootsy folk trio was probably the least surprising move Derek Fudesco could have made. The former bassist and founding member of the successful indie rock group Pretty Girls Make Graves picked up an acoustic guitar and formed the Cave Singers following PGMG’s demise, teaming up with vocalist Pete Quirk and drummer Marty Lund.

Future Politics, Austra's third, and most ambitious album to date, calls for radical hope: "a commitment to replace the approaching dystopia," says Katie Stelmanis, who leads Austra with the support of Maya Postepski, Dorian Wolf, and Ryan Wonsiak.

Stelmanis wrote, produced and engineered the album, with Postepski adding production on half the tracks. Its haunting first single "Utopia" is heart-filling, irresistible pop. In Mexico Stelmanis was introduced "to a whole generation of Latin American producers who are mixing traditional folk music with techno beats… an underground revolution rooted in the preservation and celebration of Latin American indigenous cultures, and also Latin American independence from the USA, similar to what A Tribe Called Red is doing in Canada."
