Sick + Twisted Theatre, Winnipeg’s own disability theatre company, is thrilled to present our 3rd Annual Holiday Panto!: “Jax, The Beanstalk, and The Emperor’s New Clothes”, an outrageous, joyful celebration of inclusion, laughter, and the spirit of the season.

Jax and their mother are hungry: the crops don't have enough water to grow, and the cow has stopped giving milk. Could this have something to do with the new President Emperor Elect in Skyworld who wants to annex the Lowlands for their fresh water and natural resources? Can Jax get to the bottom of it before the Emperor is sworn in in his magical new suit? Come see the inauguration where the naked truth of tyranny is revealed!

Master winemaker thinks he has created the next great wine that will make him a millionaire, but just when he’s about to unveil it, something sinister happens! Was it a Tinder date gone terribly wrong? Or did those two arguing sports fans find someone else to disagree with? Maybe that Social Media Influencer posted the wrong picture. What about the regular who always has a story? Does he know the answer? Perhaps we’ll just have to leave it up to the junior criminologist, who only comes here to study, to figure out who did it and why.

“Life’s a show, and some of us were born to steal it.”
Step into the glam-splattered dreamscape of Phantom of the Paradise and Labyrinth. Two operatic fever dreams of music, obsession, and glittering rebellion. These aren’t just movies. They’re rock operas, glam fairy tales, and cinematic hallucinations where the music isn’t just part of the story; it is the story.
First up, Phantom of the Paradise... Winnipeg’s favourite cult movie. No other city has embraced De Palma’s neon-drenched rock opera quite like ours.
Then fall headfirst into Jim Henson’s Labyrinth, where David Bowie’s Jareth lures you with riddles, rhythm, and a voice that could bend time. It’s a journey through love, illusion, and the beat of a magic drum.
Whether you're here to chant “Life at Last” or sway to “As the World Falls Down,” this double feature is your escape into mirrors, into myth, into the heart of the music.
This is not just a night at the movies.
Dress loud. Sing proud. And don’t be late.

Ensuring the Magic of Outdoor Theatre Lives On

This past year’s climate instability has had a tangible impact. We faced 14 performances that were either modified or cancelled entirely due to conditions like wildfires, air quality issues, flash storms, and smoke. We had cast members struggling with vocal strain from the smoke.

By supporting us now, you’re helping protect the wonder of theatre in nature. We can’t do it without you.
Your generous support will go directly into tangible actions that will keep SIR thriving.
Here are just a few of the areas where your donations will make a real difference:
Enhancing Audience Care and Accessibility: We need to ensure everyone has a comfortable experience. That means adding more porta-potties to reduce wait times, and make it easier for everyone to enjoy the show.

Upgrading Our Infrastructure: We’re transitioning to a new digital system that will revolutionize how we communicate with you, streamline ticketing, and improve our overall audience engagement.

Expanding New Play Development: We’re proud of the new works that have emerged from SIR, like Dark Lady, The Player King and Pandora, which started right here in Winnipeg and have since been performed across provinces. We want to continue nurturing Manitoba talent, developing new plays, and sharing our unique voice with even wider audiences. New plays require deep care: workshops, many re-writes, try-out readings, time and resources!

Please consider donating today so that SIR can continue to thrive, rain or shine. With your help, we’ll keep the wonder alive.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Rodrigo Beilfuss, artistic director, Shakespeare in the Ruins
