As the child of Gaia (Mother Earth), we need to be feel connected to her and grounded. Grounding can make a difference in the way we walk in this world as it provides us with that firm and level intention.
Join Marci Sealey and Marion Josey Birch as they present the foundation of grounding and its purpose. Experience various techniques of grounding and come away with a method that resonates with your style, enabling you to incorporate healthy habits into your life.
*
January 22, 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM

Marci Sealey and Marion Joseph Birch collaborate and explore
the Art of Cutting Cords, Hooks and Healing.
In relationships or interactions our energy can be the energy that can drain us. This is especially if the relationship is toxic, emotionally draining or abusive. Sometimes we feel obsessed with someone or we may feel disrupted by dreams or thoughts of them.

Ethereal cords can continue to bind you to that person, as the energy continues to flow back and forth as spiritual author Doreen Virtue said, “The etherized cord acts like a hose, with energy directed back and forth between two people”. This can happen even if you are no longer in the relationship.

If you recognize a draining feeling, from a workplace, obsessive thoughts or disruptive feelings that are wearing down your self esteem, perhaps this is the workshop for you. Or if you want to break contact with someone, this maybe your first step and organizing yourself to disengage with them.

Inuktitut Songwriting with Kelly Fraser
Originally from Sanikiluaq, Nunavut, Kelly Fraser has performed across Canada, especially in the Arctic. Kelly uses her pain as inspiration to make art that can positively impact other native youths. She seeks to spread her messages of joy, healing, and cultural pride through a blend of traditional Inuit music and modern production.

Kelly sings and raps in both English and Inuktitut, seamlessly blending the two languages to make the music speak to both Inuit and Qallunaat (“southerners”).

Kelly teaches Inuktitut language lessons and songwriting, does cultural and motivational speaking, and helps to organize Nunavut Hitmakerz, a project which aims to give underprivileged Nunavummiut youth opportunities to learn creative expression and technical skills.

Jazz Winnipeg Presents:
Elizabeth Shepherd      http://elizabethshepherd.com/
w/ Zachary Rushing   https://www.zacharyrushing.com/

After 3 years of interviewing strangers who all shared being Montrealers, Elizabeth found herself with countless stories that make up a "people's history" of the city she loves so much, which she then wove into 11 original songs.
The four-time JUNO nominee and two-time Polaris-Prize nominee has been featured on BBC, J-Wave (Japan), WBGO (New York), NPR and Deutschland Radio.

A transplant to Winnipeg via Seattle, Washington, Zachary Rushing brings a seasoned sound rich in varied influences and styles. He has performed musical theatre, contemporary pop, classical and more, though he is most at home with the jazz tradition.

The Paper Kites will be back in town with Wild Rivers!
Our hotel window in New York City looked straight into the apartment building across the street. You could see all these windows lighting up and people getting home from their nights out. We just sat there and watched them. It was fascinating. It was living art.
It's a collection of stories about these characters all living in an apartment building; I wanted to capture moments, feelings, it's about people and their stories.

We will be presenting a handful of unique and exciting shows!
This award-wining adaptation of King Ubu has garnered much praise. Since its creation, Ubu has been performed over 850 times in Québec, Mexico, Brazil and Europe!

Two armies of French baguettes face each other in a stand-off as tomato bombs explode, an egg beater hovers over fleeing troops and molasses-blood splatters on fork-soldiers as they charge Père Ubu. Anything goes as Poland's fate is sealed on a tabletop! Film references spice things up as two performers hammer-out a small-scale fresco of grandiose buffoonery.
