The Council of Canadians - Winnipeg Chapter will be screening the documentary Living Without Money on Thursday, April 14, from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, in Room 4M47, University of Winnipeg, 515 Portage Avenue. After the film there will be special guests facilitating a discussion on ways to start living outside our consumer society.

The film portrays the life of 68 year old Heidemarie Schwermer, a German woman who made a deliberate choice to stop using money 14 years ago. She canceled her apartment, gave away all of her belongings and kept nothing but a suitcase full of clothes.
This was a decision that dramatically changed her entire outlook on her life.

For more than the past year the Council of Canadians - Winnipeg Chapter has been focused on opposing the City of Winnipeg's creation of a for-profit corporate utility to oversee water and waste services locally. The fight to preserve this crucial part of our public infrastructure continues.
