Breaking News Your Band (BNYB) is back for another epic night of rock classics raising money for Before The Bridge Senior K-9 Rescue.
Rock and Roll Odyssey will transport you through a night of hits from the 70's and 80's. We will cover some of the best songs from that era and play some of our original work.
BTB Senior K-9 Rescue is a volunteer operated, registered charity in Stony Mountain. We rescue senior dogs that have been surrendered, neglected or dumped in a pound and help them to find permanent, loving homes. We place dogs with loving foster families, who care for the dogs until they find their forever homes.

"Within and Beyond Tradition: Works by East Asian Artists in The UofW Collection" is a group exhibition curated by Irene Chan, a UofW East Asian Languages and Cultures student.
The exhibit features an array of works by artists of Chinese and Japanese descent, including historical embroideries and ceramics, as well as contemporary prints, paintings and drawings.
Featured artists include Kam Wing Lee, Noboru Sawai, Takao Tanabe, Zheng Yan and Akira Yoshikawa. Exhibited works exemplify the artists’ unique approaches to exploring their identity as Asian-Canadians.

MAWA Mentoring Artists for Women's Art
MAY 10, 6:30 PM - Yen-Yu Tseng (Taiwan) is MAWA's first Artist in Residence for 2023! Come out to her artist talk to meet her and learn about her practice.
Yen-Yu Tseng works with old clothes and her own textile technique: wrapping. She is the recipient of the 16th Li Chun-Shan Visual Art Award in 2020. She says, “I will make figure fabric dolls/portraits from local waste textiles and old clothes as part of my City Doll project.”

Indigenous Feminisms through Visual Art with Dr. Suzanne McLeod
This four part course is open to all. Please attend all four sessions.
It will explore Indigenous feminism through a visual art lens, and will include lectures, examples of artists’ work, and discussion. Topics will encompass the traditional roles of Indigenous women, unsettling Indigenous art history, systemic violences (including MMIWG+), 2SLGBTQ+ genders and sexualities, advocacy politics and Indigeneity beyond North America. Suzanne McLeod is Anishinaabe-ikwe and a member of Sagkeeng First Nation, Manitoba.

Join us for a journey through traditional Indigenous parenting with the “From Talk to Table: Indigenous Motherhood” Tour. This exploration of parenting throughout time on Turtle Island will include an in-depth tour of Indigenous artifacts in the Museum Galleries and will also look at parenting and birthing practises, coming-of age-ceremonies, and how traditional Indigenous parenting is being revitalized.
It will be led by Tashina Houle-Schlup, Head of Indigenous Programming & Engagement at the Manitoba Museum. Tashina is an Anishinaabe quillwork artist and is passionate about sharing Indigenous culture and history. The tour will include a short visit behind-the-scenes to our Museum storage lab. Join us for tea, bannock, and further conversation.

Moving Matter: Tyndall stone in the city tour
Join us for a walking tour exploring several of downtown Winnipeg's Tyndall stone buildings. Tyndall stone is a fossil-rich limestone that formed 450 million years ago in a shallow sea near the equator. Quarries near Garson, Manitoba have been the only source for the stone as building material for the last 120 years. Learn about Tyndall stone's geology, how to spot and identify fossils, and about the stone's use and relationship to people in the region over the last 3000 years.
