When Jackie moves back, she thought her biggest problem would be readjusting to a smaller bed. She didn’t realize her mother had given that bed to a Sudanese refugee.  But the former “Lost Boy” is not all that he seems, and the family learns about making assumptions.
Cultural differences, language barriers, and the self-conscious earnestness of the "well-meaning" combine to deliver a scathingly comic look at Canadian values.

Trish has a fabulous sense of character and a keen ear.  She’s very funny, and she’s written a play that is a very funny, yet insightful, look at the new Canada. – Robert Metcalfe

Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre: A Christmas Story by Philip Grecian
Based on the film by Jean Shepherd, Leigh Brown & Bob Clark
Preview: November 19 and 20  l   November 21 - December 14

All nine-year-old Ralphie wants for Christmas is a Red Ryder B.B. gun “with a compass and this thing which tells time built right into the stock.”
In his quest to convince the adults in his life, he encounters an eccentric leg lamp, deals with a crotchety department store Santa, does battle with the schoolyard bully and stars in his own elaborate fantasies.
A Christmas Story is a nostalgic look at childhood that will delight kids of all ages.
