August: Peru: Traditional Dance & Dress

The Peruvian-Canadian Association of Manitoba welcomes you to experience Peruvian history. 

This photo exhibit shows the beauty of centuries-old traditional costumes and dance, combining native, Spanish, and African roots. The vibrant colour of ponchos, dresses, blankets, layered skirts, chullos, and ornaments express deep love for the rich heritage and traditions.

Bev Pike has written project and operating grants for organizations. She has received senior arts grants from WAC, MAC and Canada Council. Pike is known for her large-scale land-form paintings, videos and artist-books. Her works are in the Tate Modern and the Victoria and Albert Museum in England, and in public and private collections.

In this year of Canada's 150th birthday, Winnipeg's Polish Folk Dance Ensemble SPK "ISKRY" will be celebrating their Golden Anniversary - 50 years of performing for audiences all around the world. Since its founding in 1967 by Henryk Lorenc, its primary purpose is to preserve and showcase Polish culture and folklore through traditional song and dance.

We invited Edmonton's Polish Dance Ensemble "Lowicz" as guest performers. The performance will showcase both new works and classics that weave together the rich fabric of the Polish culture.

In addition to regularly performing at the International Polish Dance Festival since 1993, "ISKRY" has been the annual entertainment mainstay at the Warsaw-Poland Pavilion during Winnipeg's Folklorama. Some other highlights of their history include performing at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, attending a private audience with Pope John Paul II in 1999, and joining the Winnipeg Royal Ballet in 2015 in their production of Swan Lake.

Growing from one man to an eight-piece orchestral band with two recorded studio albums, we are so excited to welcome back San Fermin.

Karazija wrote and recorded Low Roar’s debut album with Grammy-winning producer/mixer Andrew Scheps. Upon releasing the album in 2011, Karazija then recruited Logi Guðmonsson on drums and the two toured Europe, eventually joining the Iceland Airwaves and ATP festival lineups, as well as supported indie favourites Soko and Ásgeir.

Now including Leifur Bjornsson on programming, Low Roar released their second album, ‘0’, co-produced by Andrew Scheps and Mike Lindsay (Tuung), featuring Icelandic darlings Amiina on strings, in 2014.

Mayday Parade: A Lesson In Romantics 10th Anniversary Tour

Mayday Parade has garnered a dedicated fanbase, in their evolution from hard-working local band to global force. Delving into the musical influences that have inspired their decade-long career, the band have delivered their most exciting release to date with Black Lines. Pawdicures ($10) and de-shedding ($15) - walk-in appointments 

Santa Photos will be taken by the talented Coralee Penner of Red Photo Co. 

Photos are $10/pose. To reserve your sitting please call Vada's (204) 221-0998

(We might have some walk in spaces for Santa photos)

You will get a digital file. If you do not have email, an alternative will be provided. 

Appointments for the Photos will start at 10:30 am - 2:45 pm.

Interested in donating to the silent auction or bake sale (ingredients must be listed on baking) please email us for drop off or pick up.

All proceeds will be donated to Boston Terrier and Pug Rescue of Southern Manitoba!

Animals As Leaders is an American Progressive band composed of guitarists Tosin Abasi and Javier Reyes along with drummer Matt Garstka. Their unique musical style incorporates influences from metal, jazz, electronic, latin, classical, and fusion. In 2009 AAL released their self-titled debut album. Since then the band has released two more albums, Weightless and The Joy of Motion which debuted at #23 in the Billboard Top 200.
