Opening Reception on September 27 at 8 pm | Artist Talk at 9 pm
Urban Shaman will be open 12 till 9 pm on September 28, as part of of Nuit Blanche.
Saηksaηnića is the Dakota word for dress. The traditional cloth and hide dresses of Plains women, with their intricacy, grace and beauty, have captivated Lita Fontaine ever since she was a little girl. Fontaine honours these forms that carry cultural symbols from her Dakota and Anishinaabe heritage.
Fontaine has exhibited her art in several solo and group exhibitions and her work can be found on murals in Winnipeg, Manitoba and in personal art collections. In February 2012, Lita Fontaine was the recipient of The Aboriginal Circle of Educators Spirituality/Cultural Education Award.

Stand Up for Science Rally - Winnipeg and across the country
University Of Winnipeg, 515 Portage Ave, rally in front of Wesley Hall
Good science, when coupled with good decision-making, keeps our water and air clean, keeps us healthy, keeps our food safe and prepares Canada for the future. Science in the public interest is crucial for our well-being and long-term prosperity.
We will be calling on the Federal government to make a strong commitment to science in the public interest by:
1. Funding scientific research from basic science through to applied.
2. Using the best available science and evidence to make the best decisions.
3. Supporting the open communication of publicly funded science to the public.
