From the author of the bestselling Red, Whit and Drunk All Over, Natalie MacLean's Unquenchable: A Tipsy Quest for the World's Best Bargain Wines will amuse and enthrall with its character sketches of obsessive personalities, travel to lovely settings, mouth-watering descriptions, of food and wine, “hidden” wine education and neurotic humor.
Award-winning wine writer Natalie MacLean travels the globe on an uncompromising quest to find fabulous wine bargains.
Natalie was named the World’s Best Drinks Writer at the World Food Media Awards in Australia, has won four James Beard Foundation Journalism awards and six IACP Bert Greene Awards; and is the only person to win both the M.F.K. Fisher Distinguished Writing Award from the James Beard Foundation and the M.F.K. Fisher Award for Excellence in Culinary Writing from Les Dames d’Escoffier International.
Her regular wine columns in print reach 5.1 million readers, her free wine e-newsletter is read by more than 115,000 wine lovers and her mobile applications for iPhone and BlackBerry have been downloaded by more than 70,000 smartphone users.
Natalie will also be signing copies of her books from 4:30 - 5:30 pm by our cash desk for those not attending the Wine and Dine portion of the evening.
****
Wine and Dine began as an interesting way to launch books related to food.
Our full-service licensed restaurant, Prairie Ink Restaurant and Bakery, is a place where authors specializing in food and drink and people who love food can get together. Our chef decides on a fixed three- or four-course menu, and our sommelier pairs wines to each course. As the courses are presented, the chef offers a short talk about the food, the ingredients, and the history of the recipe.
As the wine is presented, Natalie MacLean will speak about the wine and give advice on what to look for in a wine or vineyard while entertaining attendees with her inimitable storytelling and personality.
We have had the pleasure of featuring such chefs as Anthony Bourdain, Christine Cushing, Anita Stewart, Ken Kostick, Olaf Mertens, Trish Magwood and Mark McEwan
as part of our Wine and Dine series.
