Sunday, October 2 · 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
A presentation, book signing and stitch/craft 'n' bitch from Leanne Prain, the author of Hoopla: The Art of Unexpected Embroidery with special guest Takashi Iwasaki.
Hoopla focuses on stitch artists who specialize in unusual, guerrilla-style patterns such as needlepoint nipple doilies and a ransom note pillow.
Leanne Prain is the co-author (with Mandy Moore) of Yarn Bombing. She co-founded a stitch and bitch called Knitting and Beer to expand her skills while knitting at the pub.
A graphic designer, Leanne holds degrees in creative writing, art history, and publishing. She lives and knits in Vancouver.
Winnipeg’s own Takashi Iwasaki, manager and director of Semai Gallery and an accomplished artist whose work spans a wide variety of mediums will also be in attendance discussing his own "Hoopla" contribution.
Please stick around after Leanne’s presentation at McNally's as she will be hosting a special stitch/craft and bitch after the book signing.
