WAG Celebrates Centennial with Show of Contemporary Winnipeg Artists

The 13 artists who are creating new works for Winnipeg Now all have one thing in common - they either live or have lived in Winnipeg.

See filmmaker Guy Maddin shooting a film a day in the Gallery for 18 days in the newest stage of his Séances project, a reinvention of lost films.
Shawna Dempsey and Lorri Millan will be performing unconventional readings from a story-telling corner.
The magical forest of KC Adams’ porcelain forest of corporate-lit trees.
Michael Dudeck links the conventions of museum display with ritual performance as a queer artist witchdoctor.
Kent Monkman uses the diorama format to investigate his own background as a gay, aboriginal artist.
Other artists in the show are Sarah Anne Johnson, Dominique Rey, Paul Butler, Rodney LaTourelle, Marcel Dzama, Jennifer Stillwell, and Daniel Barrow.

“This show is a measure of what art-making looks like in this city in 2012,” say guest curators Meeka Walsh and Robert Enright.
