Toronto Women's Bookstore Evening of Readings
October 30, 7:00 pm in the Travel Alcove
For 39 years, Toronto Women’s Bookstore has served the community, readers and writers. In mid-October TWB owner Victoria Moreno announced that the store will close at the end of November.
Former Winnipegger Tanis MacDonald is planning an event in Toronto on October 30. We’re planning a satellite/sympathy event to mark TWB’s passing, to talk about the need for spaces dedicated to women, the need for independent booksellers.

The 2012/13 season continues with a discussion on Christopher Wakling’s What I Did, a tragicomic story about the unseen consequences of a split-second decision, about a childhood interrupted and about the lengths to which we will go to protect the ones we love told from the perspective of the spirited six-year-old Billy Wright.

A Gardening Presentation from Sandy Venton and Fran Wershler

A Visit to Foggy Bottom and Hidcote Gardens, England
In 2011 Sandy Venton and Fran Wershler circled England visiting famous gardens. Join them to see a presentation of highlights from that trip.
Fran Wershler is a former Editor of The Prairie Garden. Her interests include roses, hostas and lilies. She is involved with the St. James Horticultural Society, the Manitoba Regional and the North American Lily Societies. Touring gardens is one of her fascinations.
Sandy Venton has been gardening for many years and Martagon lilies are her passion. She is Canadian Vice President of the North American Lily Society and Secretary for the Manitoba Regional Lily Society, a lily judge and 2012 show chair for the North American Lily Society show and convention held in Winnipeg.
