Kelly Hughes will interview publisher and Weakerthans frontman John K. Samson, 92.9 Kick-FM's Marty Gold and The Rise and Sprawl's Robert Galston on Friday, October 15 at Aqua Books.
The evening, beginning at 7:00 p. m. and continuing to 8:30 p. m., will feature the music of The Scarlet Union.
John K. Samson is the singer and songwriter for The Weakerthans. His poetry and prose has appeared in Matrix Magazine, Geist, The Believer, and Post-Prairie—an Anthology of New Poetry.
Winnipeg's only drive-home talk show, The Great Canadian Talk Show, has skewered sacred cows like the Canadian Museum for Human Rights and developed an influential following.
Host Marty Gold has worked in talk radio, business and legislative consulting and was a contestant on CBC-TV's Dragons' Den.
In 2005, Robert Galston began his blog The Rise and Sprawl, writing on Winipeg's urban issues. His writings on neighborhood revitalization, heritage preservation and local history have appeared in the Winnipeg Free Press and the U of W's The Uniter.
The Scarlet Union is fronted by Greg "Milka" Crowe. After playing guitar in local hardcore outfit XchoplogicX, Crowe turned to ska, fronting Whole Lotta Milka. Crowe released his debut solo album, Bhakta Basics in 2004, while continuing to tour with The Greg "Milka" Crowe Band.
Crowe has since reformed the band under the name of The Scarlet Union.
Have a great day. How can you miss - you're in Winnipeg!
