Come to Mc Nally Robinson, Grant Park in the Atrium, on Thursday February 24, 7:00 pm to meet composer/performer Diana McIntosh, who will be launching her new CD Pinnacles.
This special evening features live performances of three of the recorded pieces, featuring Diana McIntosh on piano and voice, Laurel Ridd on flute and Vincent Ellin on bassoon.
The pieces are inspired by a hot air balloon ride over the Massai Mara in Kenya, a tent camp in southern Kenya and Diana’s love of mountains streams and falls – with the presence of her mountain adventures felt clearly throughout.
Only “A Rose is a Rose” is a departure from the mountain theme, dealing as it does with the “high” and abstract world of Gertrude Stein and her love of the sound and rhythms of the spoken word.
This colourful cross-section of solos, duos and ensembles are performed by McIntosh herself on piano and spoken voice, Laurel Ridd, Karl Stobbe, Daniel Sholz, Yuri Hooker, Vincent Ellin, Beverley Johnston and Ben Reimer.
